As you will learn, there are many rules in my class. In my class you will be a good student and a good person. Following these rules will help.

THE BARTEL 55

  1. Say name, sir, or ma’am.
  2. Make eye contact.
  3. Congratulate others.
  4. Don’t brag. Don’t show anger.
  5. Respect others.
  6. Ask a question in return.
  7. Don’t show disrespect with gestures.
  8. Cover your mouth. Say excuse me.
  9. Say thank you.
  10. Grade correctly.
  11. Follow when reading.
  12. Answer in complete sentences.
  13. Don’t ask for rewards.
  14. Homework everyday.
  15. Change subjects quickly and quietly.
  16. Be organized.
  17. Don’t complain about homework.
  18. When we have a substitute all rules still apply.
  19. Put your hand down when others are talking. No eating until everyone is served.
  20. Learn the school and the people in it.
  21. Use bathroom appropriately.
  22. Keep lunchroom spotless.
  23. Perform random acts of kindness.
  24. Follow all rules in class.
  25. Don’t worry about other people’s business.
  26. Follow bus rules.
  27. Be perfect on a field trip.
  28. Pick up dropped items.
  29. Hold the door.
  30. Say “excuse me”.
  31. Be perfect in the auditorium.
  32. Single file and quiet in line.
  33. Never cut line.
  34. No Hot Cheetos.
  35. Trust me to protect you.
  36. Have agenda and book.
  37. No unnecessary items.
  38. Take everything out of your backpack.
  39. Ladies first – always.
  40. No unnecessary school supplies.
  41. No notes or forgery.
  42. Push chair and basket in.
  43. Put things where they belong.
  44. Pick up after yourself.
  45. Absolute silence for announcements and visitors in room.
  46. Make up work when absent.
  47. Be in uniform.
  48. Don’t touch my stuff.
  49. Stand up for what you believe in.
  50. Be positive and enjoy life.
  51. Live so that you never have regrets.
  52. Accept and learn from your mistakes.
  53. Always be honest.
  54. Carpe diem (Seize the day).
  55. Be the best person you can be.
